Local Heroes 2018 – Charities and the Third Sector
Gordon has launched his 2018 Local Heroes – recognising the sterling work of those working in charities and the third sector.
Blackpool is one of the most generous towns in the country when it comes to charitable giving and there is an enormous amount of good work being done by charities across the community. The awards will be presented by special guests at a venue to be confirmed on Friday 23rd November.
He said: “In over 20 years I have been the MP, I have always found people in Blackpool to be kind hearted and very supportive of the charity and third sector. I know in the North West we rank in the top 5 of all towns and cities for giving per person.
“I see all the time examples of local charities and projects doing proactive excellent work helping people to get back on their feet. These awards, which I’ve been running over the years, have been a central part of my commitment to honour and highlight Blackpool’s people and organisations. This year I wanted to show a particular appreciation to the work and volunteering being done by many people in local charities.”
If you know a person, group or organisation that is deserving of such an award, you can nominate them in one of the five categories:
1) Most Charitable Business,
2) Best Individual Charity Worker/Volunteer,
3) Best “Direct Help” Charity,
4) Most Charitable Young Person,
5) Charity that’s made the most difference/change
All entrants must either live in, or their work must have an impact on, the Blackpool South Parliamentary Constituency. Nomination forms can be collected from my constituency office at 304 Highfield Road, Blackpool, FY4 3JX or downloaded here
