This is the statement Gordon has put out today on how he voted in the Labour Leader nominations:
"I have nominated Jeremy Corbyn in the interests of a broad contest and because without my nomination - made at the final hour - it appeared he would not have secured the number of MPs’ nominations required to remain in the contest.
"I will not be voting for him as leader, though I respect his personal qualities, but I will be giving my support to Yvette Cooper in the leadership contest.
"As I indicated in my question to candidates at the PLP hustings I do believe it is crucial we have the fullest, most inclusive discussions of policy and direction involving all sections of the Labour party and supporters and the British people as a whole - both during the leadership contest but also after it. Whoever becomes our Leader needs to facilitate and galvanise that process."
