Roadworks crippling Blackpool businesses were ‘avoidable’ says Gordon

Gordon has written to United Utilities demanding a full apology to local businesses who have been effected by the delayed roadworks on Highfield Road.

He has also called on the water company to give full compensation to the owners, whose businesses have been effected. Work to dig up the street only began eight weeks after it was shut in one direction due to problems with the sandy soil – something Gordon said he warned the water company about.

Gordon said: “The businesses are in a serious and frustrating position through the continuing failure to get to grips with the problems,” he added.

He said the firm’s response so far had been ‘inadequate’.”
