Gordon has cast the first vote in the Yorkshire Building Society's Charity Choices - a campaign supporting three Blackpool charities.
The Blackpool South MP was invited to the town's local branch on Birley Street, where he met with Branch Manager Alison Briggs and representatives from the three charities, Donna's Dream House, N-Vision and Fylde Coast Carers.
Based on the number of the votes received each will receive a share of £1000 from the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.
Gordon said: “I was delighted to meet with Alison and her team at the Yorkshire Building Society here in Blackpool.
“Their Charitable Foundation is a fantastic initiative and the three selected local charities – Donna’s Dream House, Fylde Coast Carers and N-Vision, all of whom I have worked closely with as the MP, are all very worthy of this.
As he cast a symbolic vote and kick start the process, he added: “It was great to be asked to cast the first vote and I look forward to the outcome of the results and also continuing to work with these charities.”
Alison, manager of the Blackpool branch said: “We know how important our chosen three charities are to our local community so we’re delighted to be making a donation to help them continue their important work – just how much they receive though will be up to our customers and members of the public.
“In this campaign votes equal pounds so we hope as many people as possible will take a minute to pop in and make their vote count.”
