Gordon accuses Prime Minister of "double standards" on Fracking

Gordon_at_PMQs.JPGGordon has accused the Prime Minister of "double standards" at PMQs over the issue of fracking on the Fylde - asking why he wasn't giving them the final say on shale gas extraction but was doing so on wind turbines.

His question to Mr Cameron comes after he wrote to the Development Control Committee of Lancashire County Council, who are at present looking at the two applications close to Blackpool (Little Plumpton and Roseacre), with decisions due very soon.

He called on them to reserve their final decision until they had been able to consider a full Government report that looks at the implications of fracking.

Gordon has previously described the safeguards put in place by the Tory Government as "inadequate" and said it could have potential negatives for Blackpool's tourism industry, as well as the local environment. His question at PMQs was also supported by fellow Fleetwood MP Cat Smith, who has voiced her opposition to the plans to frack on the Fylde.
