Blackpool South

Gordon has been the MP for Blackpool South since 1997 and was the area’s first ever Labour representative in Parliament.

He has now been re-elected on five successive occasions to the constituencies. 

The constituency, which was created in 1945,  is made up of twelve wards – Brunswick, Talbot, Marton, Tyldesley, Bloomfield, Victoria, Clifton Hawes Side, Waterloo, Highfield, Squires Gate and Stanley.

The seat makes up the centre and south of the town, and includes the famous Blackpool Tower, Blackpool FC, Pleasure Beach and is adjacent to Blackpool Airport. Like most British seaside resorts, tourism is the major industry in the constituency.

All of Blackpool South comes under the unitary authority of Blackpool Borough Council.

Your fighting to save IOM flights, whats the point as you stood by and allowed the clowncil to sell the airport when locals and staff knew selling to a construction company god awful balfour beaty was doomed from get go since 2008… Where was you with helping to save the airport in 2013/14? Why the hell isnt the clowncil putting money into helping hoteliers vamp up the exteriors instead of allowing this town to look like a pile of shit for another 20years, whats happened to the £24m the clowncil had to put into the airport when needed,but didnt help whatsoever…..
